►Research topics

My main area of research concerns the allocation of woody biomass in forest trees based on ontogenetic stages and environmental conditions, including the competition. The term allowance, widely used, covers a multitude of potential study subjects. I'm particularly interested in the aspect that the distribution of woody aboveground biomass in the stem and in the crown of forest trees. In particular, this requires attention to a key physical variable, the density of the wood. One goal of my project is to make an inventory allocation laws most commonly used in forestry, volume mostly - are the particular law of Pressler and pipe model - to study their limitations and possibly to provide more generic in order to be able to model the fine distribution of the biomass of forest trees and its evolution in changing conditions.
Part of my work is devoted to more applied research on the measurement of wood properties (density, nodule) by X-ray tomography

►Previous activities

  1. Stand dynamics and plasticity of crown
  2. Markers of primary growth
  3. Development of methodologies around the X-ray CT
